This screen allows you to specify which providers you want to be able to use to import individual records or files of records into your catalogue. Soutron provides access to five external providers of catalogue data:

  • COPAC
  • Library of Congress
  • Google
  • MARC
  • Gardners

The first three allow you to search for individual records and import them; the MARC and Gardners options allow you to import a file of records.

Note that you can only import records from Gardeners if you have an account with them.

To access Catalogue Information Providers, select System Management > External Data Sources > Catalogue Information Providers.

The following page appears:

Only active providers are shown: to show all providers, un-tick the "Show active only" Filter box.

Activating a provider

At least one provider needs to be active in order to use the Auto Cataloguing facility.

Tick the box next to the name of one or more providers, then click Change status in the Actions menu.

Deactivating a provider

Tick the box next to the name of one or more providers, then click Change status in the Actions menu.

Deactivated providers will not appear as options when importing catalogue records.

You can deactivate all providers even if you have already defined the fields mappings - you do not need to delete these as well.

Setting a default provider

To set a provider as the default, tick the box next to the name of the provider, then click Set default in the Actions menu.

Editing a provider definition

Caution! You should not edit any of the code in this screen, as it is all correctly configured. Any changes are likely to cause the import facility to stop working.

Finishing the process

The next step is to map the fields in the external data source(s) to those in the Soutron Library Management System.
